The tranquil community of Chochocho, nestled outside White River in Mpumalanga, is reeling from a brutal double murder that has left residents shaken to their core.
Masotja Ngomane and Mpumi Shongwe, a loving couple, were shot and killed inside their home in the early hours of Sunday morning, 15 March. The senseless violence has sparked fear and unease, with the suspects still at large.
“It feels like we’re living in a nightmare,” said Vusi Mamindze, chairman of the Masoyi community policing forum.”
The whole community is in shock. We can’t understand why this happened to such a lovely couple. They were part of our community, and now they’re gone.

“Masotja and Mpumi worked as security guards, dedicated to keeping others safe. Their colleagues and friends describe them as kind-hearted and hardworking, with no known enemies.
The motive behind the killing rneed the police to find these people and bring them to justice.”The police are urging anyone with information to come forward, as the investigation continues.
Meanwhile, the community is rallying around the victims’ families, offering support and solidarity.
“We’re calling on everyone to work together to find the killers,” Mamindze said.
“We need to support each other and keep our community safe. We owe it to Masotja and Mpumi, and to ourselves.
“The community is still in mourning, trying to make sense of the senseless. As they come to terms with the loss, they’re determined to fight for justice and keep their community safe.
